Have you ever heard of a one stop shop for all things related to music? Beatshop Inc. is the perfect embodiment of this. Founded by Kenn Mwalabu Paul, it provides voice training and casting, dubbing, audio production, sound engineering, song writing and arrangement. Kenn a.k.a Kenania Mwalabu is also a musician, voice coach, sound engineer and producer. His music influences are Sam fan Thomas, Bob Marley, Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson to name a few. He is well versed with what he does and has voiced on Kenya’s XYZ show advertisements for Ribena, Omo and Co-operative Bank of Kenya. He was also the assistant sound engineer of the entire first season of the animated series Doc McStuffins (Swahili Version)
Business journey
Kenania’s love for music and the arts in general led him to enter the music business. “I wanted to do what I love, earn well off of it and also inspire others,” said Kenania. In his business journey, he faced a number of challenges just as all other entrepreneurs do. “A challenge in this career is having consistent cash flow,” said Ken. He also struggled to monetize as many aspects of the business as possible. Finding clients who would pay faithfully proved to be another stumbling block on his business path. “I overcame this by signing up for courses called Harness Your Brilliance and Clients & Cash Flow Mastery,” recalled Kenn.
Harness Your Brilliance course
Kenn did the Harness Your Brilliance course and followed this up with the Clients and Cash Flow course which are both offered by PassionBiz Academy. “The courses opened my eyes to business opportunities and created a safe like-minded accountability space for me,” said Kenn. He gained new ways of thinking from the courses. He has a new video coming out this November, having just completed the shoot. He has also recorded some soap operas into Swahili.
Future plans
Kenn hopes to expand Beatshop Inc’s record label beyond East Africa and wants to be named among the top producers in Africa. “A lot of people have no clarity of purpose,” said Kenn. He encouraged people who want to venture into business to find what they love, believe in their abilities, be consistent, surround themselves with like-mind individuals.
