COSTLY MISTAKES MADE BY MENTORS AND TRAINERS

Avoid-Mentoring-Program-Mistakes.png

As a mentor, there are some disastrous mistakes that one may make without their knowledge. These include:

  1. Not trusting your own wisdom

You should not e tempted to imitate what other mentors do because you do not believe in yourself. You are knowledgeable enough to help others and should trust your own gut instinct before carrying out some tasks

2.  Not targeting the right clients

You should fully understand who your ‘tribe’ is. The right clients are people who you can give optimum results. If you are a mentor who is just starting your business, you can choose to help people who are two steps behind you. They will look up to you the same way a child in Standard 7 looks up to a child in Standard 8 of their primary education. Targeting clients who are not in urgent need of your help is an example of targeting the wrong client. You will waste your energy chasing them yet they should be the ones looking for you and your services.

pairworking3. Lack of structure and discipline

Ensure that you prepare a road map of the steps that you will take your mentoring clients through. This will give you a sense of direction on what to do.

4. Leaving money on the table

You should understand that the knowledge you offer is very valuable and you should charge for your amazing work. Know the true value of your wisdom and charge accordingly.
